Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Quite musty/cellared. Some metallic notes. Mild heritage apples aroma.
Initial Taste: Semi-strong bite from carbonation. Quickly musty. Blend of creamy and acidic apples. Some funk flavour and feel.
After Taste: Acidity continues but mellows. Becomes more smooth and sweet. Tannic flavour emerges from apples. Creamy, dry, long-lingering flavour. Some carbonation in the throat that stays.
On ice: Carbonated cut dramatically. Becomes more crisp and less dry with less apple flavour.
Additional Notes: The 2017 harvest of Windswept’s Lost Orchard is a rather dry and rustic offering, featuring a blend of unknown heritage apples foraged near the Windswept farms. Being rather carbonated, it could be substituted for champagne. Has a lot of tannins; as well as a lot of haze and specks of funk/sediment from the lees.
