Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Caramelized, baked apple aroma. Sweet, syrupy aroma. Slightly musty.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Quickly acidic and astringent, yet sweet and creamy. Fleshy, caramelized apple taste. Woody, nutty and smoky notes.
After Taste: Apple continues, with acidity dissipating. Becomes more creamy, almost pastry-like tasting, with vanilla notes. Some mild spice notes like nutmeg. Semi-dry finish. Carbonation lingers in the throat.
On ice: No noticeable changes on ice.
Additional Notes: Old Third’s Golden Russet Cider is a very unique offering, with us not being able to recall any others like it on the Ontario market. Having some Normandy cidre influences in taste and mouth feel, it goes dry rather quickly, and is acidity driven with some astringency. Has a lot of non-apple flavour notes happening from start to finish – a journey for the senses.
