Cider Crate Tasting Notes
Smell: Medium aroma. Slightly astringent. Candied berries and floral hints
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Semi acidic with a dry, tart apple.
After Taste: Becomes even drier and tarter, and rather wine-like in the finish. Berry focused with a light, floral tingle at the end.
On ice: Thinner mouthfeel and reduction in flavour, but still remains more flavourful then most rosé ciders.
Additional Notes: A heavier than most rosé, the Rootstock Ciderworks’ collaboration with Leonard Oakes Estate Winery’s Blaufrankisch is full bodied and a bit tarter than most rosés we’ve had. It packs a punch at 7.9%, but tastes like it’s a little higher. Filled with heritage apples, this makes a lot of sense as many other rose’s we have come across are made with solely dessert apples. High in tannins, it’s more wine-like than many commercially-oriented options.
