Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Semi-strong aroma. Strong licorice smell.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Floral notes with semi-dry and tart apple – quickly followed by a medium intensity black sweet (not salty) licorice.
After Taste: Remains pretty similar. Tart apple lingers longer then the licorice flavours. Some spices become noticeable in the finish. Spices, herbs and a slight saltiness stay in the back of the throat. Semi-dry finish.
On ice: Becomes thinner with less fizz from carbonation. Licorice becomes lighter in intensity.
Additional Notes: Fans of dry and not overpowering black licorice will be a fan of this absinthe-infused cider creation: Spirit of Christmas Future 2017 by Red Rover. Unique, and promising to have you see the future as if you drank a bottle of absinthe yourself, this specialty cider is semi-light and easy to drink, while having a nice apple base but not being overly apple forward. While its a French absinthe used in the cider, it seems Nordic-inspired in taste from the licorice and spices/herb notes.
