Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Extra musty with some earthy notes. Hints of metallic elements.
Initial Taste: Mild bite from carbonation. Sweet, smooth, creamy heritage apples with some crab apple flavour.
After Taste: Becomes a little more Calvados in nature in the aftertaste – less smooth, more sharp apples. Builds in apple flavour, and finishes quite dry.
On ice: Becomes less creamy and thinner in flavour and consistency.
Additional Notes: A solid example of a Normandy-style cider, this drink has the smooth elements of a sweeter cidre; along with some of the sharpness of a typical calvados spirit. Very creamy and heavier than many other similar cidres. You can tell it has been aged, as it tastes and smells cellared/musty in nature. Lots of pressure – as the cork hit the roof when we released the safety latch – but the carbonation is surprisingly still smooth and not overpowering.
