Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Sweet, crisp apple, slightly caramelized. Juicy
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Semi-bright crisp clean apple upfront. Smooth with a bit of dryness to it. A touch of fermentation, but only enough so you know it’s fermented to 5%. Lots of flesh, with some light tannin. Clean acidity is noticeable.
After Taste: Fermentation becomes a bit more noticeable as the peel is more present. Slightly bitter in an average length aftertaste.
On ice: Slightly less body and acidity.
Additional Notes: Palatine Hills Estate Winery makes the Ramblers Happy Camper Cider, which is a clean, crisp and upbeat apple offering, as part of their “Ramblers” sub-line-up of products. Lots of what we love from Ontario, it has both dry and acidic elements, with a blend of peel, flesh and tannin. Very apple forward but not overly juicy, though it smells like it could be pure apple juice. The more you consume, the more its full characteristics shine.
