Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong astringent aroma. Syrupy, sour and sweet apples.
Initial Taste: Harsh bite from acidity. Strong ,sharp musty apples with some semi-sweet notes
After Taste: Lingers a long time. Becomes smoother and sweeter at the end but still has lingering astringency. Has a film-like mouth feel.
On ice: Lighter, less astringent but also less flavourful.
Additional Notes: Pommeaus are a mix between the apple based liquor style Calvados and apple juice (at around 50/50). The Louis de Lauriston is musty and astringent but easier to drink than a straight calvados. It’s still, long lasting and quite flavourful. Reminds us of a thick, natural, non-alcoholic, non-filtered cider. Fresh tasting. Nice as an aperitif or a digestif.
