Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Sweet apple, hint of tart cranberry.
Initial Taste: Light bite. Some sensation and taste from the acidity. Blend of sweet dessert like-apples with mildly tart cranberry. Rose-wine essences. Tangy.
After Taste: Apple continue, with the cranberry making a heavier appearance here. Ends tasting like a rose-wine and dry.
On ice: Slightly less sweetness and flavour on ice. Reduced carbonation.
Additional Notes: Howell Road’s Cranberry Cider is a bright offering and less tart than some other Ontario cranberry ciders. With sweeter dessert-like apple flavours, the cranberry is balanced and comes out more so in the finish – as well as adding some tanginess to the drink. Invokes memories of some rosé wines at different points of this drinking journey. Seems to be more apple forward than previous versions of this cider we’ve had.
