Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Semi-sharp bright and pulpy apple,. Plump red-grape. Fermentation notes.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation, semi-foamy. Sharp apple upfront that is semi-crisp, some fermentation and bitterness. Plump red grape notes that are a blend of fermented and unfermented-like notes. Some skin elements in both apple and grape.
After Taste: Grape elements take over in the aftertaste, with a hint of fleshy apple here. Grape tannins linger awhile, amongst some juicy elements.
On ice: Thinner grape and overall flavour.
Additional Notes: Heartwood’s Concordia’s Conviction is a concord grape blended cider, that we’d say is about a 60/40% balance in taste, tilting more towards the grapes. A mostly sharp and semi-crisp apple base, apple characteristics are mostly upfront. It leans more concord grape overall, especially in the aftertaste, it has both fresh and fermented notes, skins/tannins and juice elements. While made with grapes, it does not taste very wine-like, and definitely a grape infused cider, especially in mouthfeel.
