Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Fleshy, dry apple. Sulphur.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite. Fermented apple that is dank and semi-earthy yet also semi-sweet from slightly caramelized dessert apple.
After Taste: Apple becomes a bit brighter and more sweetness comes through. Slight bitterness. Lingering fermentation notes and apple skins.
On ice: Thinner body. Less fermentation notes and intensity.
Additional Notes: Downey’s Apple Cider is a farm-based offering and it shows with rudimental fermentation notes and pure apple flavour. While we got sulphur notes in the aroma, it comes across more dank instead – elements that are at odds with the sweeter notes. Mild dessert apple sweetness that grows as it goes on. Some skin elements appear. Apples are semi-crisp and become brighter in the finish. Has a stale undertone unfortunately – maybe oxidized.
