Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Pungent sage + herbs. Sour apple. Tart blueberries.
Initial Taste: Strong bite from acidity and sourness. Sour apple notes with punchy sage notes. Apple is also pulpy, acidic and tannic. Saline. Tart, muddled wild blueberry notes.
After Taste: Acidity and sourness weakens. Mild maple syrup and smokiness emerges here. Blueberry and sage lingers a while.
On ice: Elements reduced but blueberry which is more prominent when on ice.
Additional Notes: Steel Town’s The Northmen is a very bold and very puckering cider. Tannic and sour from the start, the apples seem heritage blended. You get very pungent and strong sage that strongly grips the palate for a bit. Blueberries are tart, muddled and taste wild. As it becomes smoother into the aftertaste, you get some maple syrup and smokiness from the smoked salt emerging. Ends dry, with lingering sage and blueberries.
