Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Strong aroma of muddled pulpy apple. Some acidic and astringent notes.  Slightly earthy.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from acidity and carbonation. Apple forward with some pulpiness. Astringent. Quickly becomes overpowered by musty/farmhouse elements from the fermentation process.
After Taste: Musty and fermentation notes grow and then dissipate leaving a somewhat muddied pulpy apple that’s earthy.  Elements as strong near the finish but it finishes bold nonetheless.
On ice: Acidity is slightly reduced, along with some flavour and punch.

Additional Notes: The Sur Lie offering from the Fledgling line from FieldBird Cider, comes in a cute stubby bottle but it still packs a punch at 9%.  Easier to consume than other larger formats from the cidery, it’s still not for the inexperienced drinker.  Acidic and more astringent than most ciders, it’s got a pulpy apple taste with a lot of fermentation elements. Using the Sur Lie method of leaving in the dead yeast and fruit that sinks, its unfiltered and bottle conditioned. Tingly mouthfeel.
