Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Mature apples with some caramelization.. Dark rum with a lot of booziness.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. A boozy dark and/golden rum blend with astringency. Cola notes.
After Taste: Fermented apple tastes comes through as the rum dissipates a bit. Brown sugar and caramel show up the aftertaste, which lingering rum elements in mouth and throat.
On ice: More astringent, lingers longer. Less carbonation, more rum, less apple.
Additional Notes: A prime example of aging a cider in a spirit barrel, the Sea Cider Rum Runner almost comes off as a light rum – an homage to the rum running in Newfoundland. Astringency and bitterness comes from the rum, but also has a mature, bittersharp + bittersweet tasting apple base. You get unique notes like cola, brown sugar and caramel. Must like rum to enjoy this.
