Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong mature apples, musty and malty smell of rum with some caramel elements.
Initial Taste: Light bite with a quick, strong taste of rum flavours.
After Taste: Fermented apple tastes comes through as the rum dissipates a bit. Brown sugar and caramel show up the aftertaste, which finishes with long lingering rum elements.
On ice: More astringent, lingers longer. Less carbonation, more rum, less apple.
Additional Notes: A prime example of aging a cider in a spirit barrel, the Sea Cider Rumrunner almost comes off as a light rum. Astringency and bitterness comes from a rum, but also has a mature apple base. High alcohol level is in part by the sweet sugars found in the process of rum barreling. The cider has lots of taste, but is still has a simple cider+rum composure. A great “starter cider” for a spirit drinker and if not a fan of spirits, stay away.
