Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Semi-funky. Slightly floral with a dank apple.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation . Balanced, but dry plum upfront thats pretty natural with a semi-funky, pulpy apple. Followed quickly by whiff of floral lavender that is not aggressive. More fruit forward than flower. Slightly dank but not overpowering.
After Taste: Pretty short aftertaste, clearing out quickly with only a little floral elements to finish. A bit of fermentation in the aftertaste.
On ice: Not as dank, lightens the offering up – floral notes are reduced.
Additional Notes: The Prune & Lavende (Plum and Lavender) Cidrerie Compton in Quebec is a balanced fruit, floral and apple offering. Having a bit of funk, the apples are pulpy and match the upfront plum which is overtaken by a natural lavender. Hints of many elements (floral, dank apples, funky stonefruit) that in many cases are overpowering in other offerings – not so much this one. Easier to consume than expected for the strong smell – put on ice if the floral notes are too much.
