Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Musty, slightly tart cranberry with light apples. Some pungency.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation and tartness. Musty and tart cranberry and apple blend that is sour and bitter but not quite puckering. Cherry-like flavour notes as well.
After Taste: Apple dissipates and cleans up in mouthfeel a bit – with almost a candied (but mostly dry) finish. Musty notes linger in the aftertaste with saline-like notes appearing and staying.
On ice: Slightly reduced in overall punchy-ness but not much else.
Additional Notes: The Puddicombe Apple Cranberry is a blended cider back-sweetened with cranberry juice and a touch of sugar (as per the can). It’s rather tart from the cranberry, and has a strong underlying mustiness to it. Not an overwhelming amount of apple, and it lingers a long time with a salty-like note. A lot of elements that are strong…. not your typical cranberry-apple cider.
