Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Sour tart apple and artificial “blue raspberry” flavouring.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Hint of a standard candied “blue raspberry flavouring” that dissipates almost immediately. Becomes predominantly a semi-sweet and slightly tangy green apple forward. Some tart raspberries.
After Taste: Becomes slightly more dry and has an aftertaste that is similar to blue cotton candy. Apple notes remain green and tangy in nature. Gritty, somewhat sugary for the palate in the finish.
On ice: Thinner on ice.
Additional Notes: Shiny Cider expands their Hank’s Spiked cider line with their Electric Blue Raspberry Sour. This offering is a “soda blue” that has quite the rich blue colour to it. It however tastes like a sour green apple cider, with some blue candy notes and hints of tart raspberries. Becomes more cotton candy like in the after taste, it’s still very dessert apple forward. Decently sweet, somewhat artificial tasting, but we expected it to be even more so as this is based on a not naturally occurring flavour in nature. A very flavour forward and full bodied experience.
