Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Strong earthy, musty and acidic aromas with ‘wet wood’ notes.
Initial Taste: Bite from carbonation. Strong musty, metallic and wood notes from barreling process present. Fermented aged apple flavours obvious.
After Taste: Earthy, wood flavours remain. Acidic flavours develop slightly. Pear and citrus flavour hints. Flavour doesn’t last long.
On ice: Ice takes away a lot of the carbonation and bite with a lot of the flavour lost. Flavour becomes more flat with metallic flavours heightened.

Additional Notes: A very old-world, rustic cider in taste, feel and look overall. This cider is very different from the ciders North American’s would drink, as it isn’t artificially sweetened, and it strongly features the aromas and flavours of the traditional dingy barreling and cellar systems France is known for. Just by looking at the bottle, you can tell this cider is very traditional, antiquated and the makers have not changed their bottle design or production methods in many, many years.

Just finished a bottle of this. Delicious. I loved that it had a little funkiness to it. Also not super sweet which was a major bonus.
